Volunteer Need: Volunteers, including law enforcement, also are needed to help with the fun-filled day packed with fun, interactive activities, exercise opportunities, celebrity appearances, health information and giveaways.

When: March 23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bereavement Phone Call Volunteers

Longleaf Hospice

Volunteer Need: Bereavement Volunteers make supportive phone calls to bereaved family members. Volunteers can help in direct and/or administrative ways through supportive phone calls and/or visits to families, assisting the bereavement coordinator with grief support mailings and more.

How Often: flexible

Patient Companionship/Caregiver Respite Volunteer
Longleaf Hospice

Volunteer Need:

• Patient Support: Reading, talking, taking walks, writing letters, making phone calls, running errands, playing games, engaging in a special project, and building friendships.

• Caregiver Respite: Providing relief and peace of mind for the caregivers to have time to care for themselves and run errands, go to appointments, visit with friends, participate in support group meetings or attend religious services.

Young Adult Volunteers to Hang Out with Peers

The Emory Autism Center in Decatur

Volunteer Need: Build relationships with individuals from ages 18 to 24. Spend an afternoon each week sharing meaningful and enjoyable times together. Volunteers should be passionate, patient, and open to learning that with a little time one can discover the gifts, talents, and contributions that adults on the autism spectrum intrinsically possess.

How Often: Weekly through June 1; Tuesday (noon to 3 p.m.) OR Wednesday (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
