Watch: Oprah Winfrey Speaks At Agnes Scott Graduation
On Saturday, Oprah Winfrey shared words of wisdom with Agnes Scott graduates in Decatur.
DECATUR, GA -- Oprah Winfrey shared some words of wisdom Saturday at Agnes Scott College's spring commencement ceremony. The media maven told the class of 2017 that she had noticed that many of them had signed up to join the Peace Corps, Teach For America and other service-oriented endeavors. Winfrey said that while that was commendable, a person doesn't have to join an NGO in a third world country or anything like that to make a difference. She said making a difference starts with what you are, not what you do.
"You're nothing if you're not the truth," she told them. "I was not your age but about 30 years old when I started to realize that it's my whole life -- not what I was doing -- my whole life was a prayer, an offering of service," she said. "First to yourself to become a full actualized human being, and you do that through your actions and interactions with others."
She said that she realized that her life had a higher calling when she started to live her whole life.
