Water Hydrant Meter Rental Suspended in DeKalb

Officials say the measure applies to all recreational and residential use,

DECATUR, GA -- The county practice of renting out water hydrant meters for such things as filling swimming pools, block parties and the like is being halted immediately, the DeKalb Department of Watershed Management announced Thursday.

The measure, which applies to all recreational as well as residential use, was taken because of the drought, DeKalb officials said.

β€œWe are asking DeKalb County residents and businesses to keep water conservation in mind and be aware of the restrictions that must be put in place while these drought conditions persist,” DWM Director Scott Towler said in a statement.
