Workers At Decatur's Pinewood Restaurant Tied Up By Masked Men

Workers at Pinewood restaurant in downtown Decatur were robbed at gunpoint by masked men, according to reports.

DECATUR, GA -- One of downtown Decatur's most venerable restaurants was the scene of a vicious attack late Thursday, Patch has learned. Masked men stormed into the Pinewood restaurant and tied up employees, according to a statement the eatery's owners released Friday.

The incident happened just before midnight when a man came up to a female employee outside the restaurant and aimed a gun at her, forcing her on her knees. The man then asked how many workers were still inside the eatery. SIGN UP: To get notified of more local news like this, click here to sign up for the Decatur Patch. Once inside, masked gunmen tied up five employees and demanded to know where the restaurant's money was kept.

“The suspects took cash from the business and the personal belongings (purses, wallets, phones, keys) from the five victims and fled,” according to a news release from Decatur police Lt. Jennifer Ross, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Pinewood co-owners Mike Blydenstein, Brooks Cloud and Julian Goglia said while no one was injured in the attack, they remain unnerved by the incident and thankful to the first responders.

Last night, after service, several employees of The Pinewood were attacked by two men wearing masks. Luckily, no one was physically hurt. The team was tied up with zip ties and threatened with weapons. It deeply saddens us that two individuals would attack our community with such a senseless, harmful act. We are very grateful to the first responders of Decatur for handling the threat immediately. Thank you to everyone for their outpouring of love at this time.

Patch has reached out to the Decatur police for more information about this incident. Law enforcement officers continue to search for the perpetrators involved.
