• Georgia launches special savings accounts for disaster recovery (wrdw.com) — Douglas homeowners should soon have a new way to prepare financially for hurricanes, floods, and tornadoes, thanks to Georgia’s new catastrophe savings accounts law. Starting Jan. 1, residents can put tax-deductible money into special accounts that grow tax-free at the state level and can be used for insurance deductibles or repairs after a governor-declared disaster, though critics note renters and cash-strapped families may see limited benefit.
