Accused Shooter In Woman's Death Dies By Suicide, Gwinnett Police Say

Gwinnett County Police identified the woman killed in a domestic-related shooting and revealed the accused gunman is also dead.

DULUTH, GA — Gwinnett County Police on Monday identified the woman shot to death during a domestic-related incident, and police say the accused gunman has died by suicide.

Officers responded around 3 p.m. Friday to a person shot call in the 1600 block of Pleasant Hill Road. Police said they found a woman dead from a gunshot wound.

They have identified the woman as Elajia Whitley, 21. Police said she had previously been in a relationship with suspect Caprice Hudson, 23.

Hudson was tracked to Columbia County, where local deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop on his vehicle, police said.

A brief chase then ensued, and after a PIT maneuver was performed, deputies approached the vehicle, police said. They found Hudson dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

A motive was not released in the death of Whitley.
