Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. On Tuesday, a stabbing occurred at a Cobb County middle school which resulted in two female students being injured. The incident took place at the cafeteria at J.J. Daniel Middle School in nearby Marietta when an altercation between students led one to pull out a pocket knife and stab the other. Principal Amy Stump wrote in a statement, "Earlier today, one of our students made a terrible choice during an altercation with another student. The student attacked another student and caused injury to both the victim and themselves." (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. According to Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, the Cobb Board of Commissioners' reapportionment maps are "not legally binding." He also said his office cannot file a lawsuit unless the East Cobb resident who already has a lawsuit in place withdraws it. The maps, which were approved, would keep one of the voting members of the commission in office. (East Cobb News)
  3. Cobb Department of Transportation closed off part of a sidewalk in front of Sprayberry Square Shopping Center after a sinkhole appeared. On Monday, Cobb County Government said no traffic lanes had been affected but with rain in the week's forecast, crews will continue monitoring the situation. When the forecast is clear, crews will repair the issue which is due to a failed joint in a drainage pipe. (East Cobb News)
