9/11 Commemoration Events Near East Cobb
The 14th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York, Washington, D.C. and Shanksville, PA is on Friday.

Cobb County residents who wish to pay tribute to those who were killed during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 on Friday’s 14th anniversary will have several opportunities to do so at various events around the county.
Kennesaw State University will mark the solemn occasion by ringing the bell on its Marietta campus at 8:46 a.m., the time 14 years ago when the first plane crashed into the World Trade Center. The bell will ring three times for the three sites attacked that day.
In Marietta Square, VFW Post 2681 will host a commemoration ceremony at noon featuring the father of a 9/11 victim and snacks featuring the names of the 3,000 people killed in the attacks, the Marietta Daily Journal says.

In Smyrna, Adventure Outdoors will host a barbecue fundraiser benefiting Shepherd Center’s SHARE Military Initiative starting at 5:30 p.m. Shepherd Center’s SHARE Military Initiative helps veterans who are struggling with traumatic brain injuries or PTSD from their experiences in the service. The barbecue will feature live music and a shooting range experience for VIPs, the MDJ says.
