  1. The Avenue East Cobb and its merchants raised $4,266 during an inaugural holiday fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity. Most of the funds raised came from ticket sales for holiday events at the retail center, and more than $1,000 came from the Kendra Scott jewelry store. (East Cobb News)
  2. Thursday's severe storm left a trail of extensive damage in many parts of the state, including areas of Cobb County. Residents in nearby Austell reported that the side of a building had collapsed, and dozens of residents reported damage to their homes. Businesses suffered damages, and roads were closed as a result; however, no injuries were reported. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. The City Council in nearby Marietta approved a developer's request to build 600 homes in previously unincorporated land off Bells Ferry Road. The county initially opposed the decision because the new development would be too dense for the area. Residents also expressed concerns about the new project. (Yahoo! News)
