Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:

  1. On Tuesday, the Cobb Board of Commissioners approved a request to spend $1.45 million to hire an outside consultant to develop a strategic plan for county government. In a split party-line vote, the board's three Democrats voted to approve a contract with Accenture LLP to prepare a long-term “guiding document” to pull together a number of service issues and objectives, in the words of Deputy County Manager Jimmy Gisi. Republicans JoAnn Birrell and Keli Gambrill opposed the vote, objecting to the cost and questioning the need for such a study. (East Cobb News)
  2. The East Cobb Food Scores have been released for the week of Aug. 22. Aside from Smoothie King at 1271 Johnson Ferry Rd., which received a 'B,' all other restaurants earned an 'A' rating. Those restaurants were Mellow Mushroom, Planet Smoothie, Suburban Tap, and Smoothie King on 2022 Powers Ferry Rd. The food scores were compiled by the Cobb & Douglas Department of Public Health.
