- The Cobb Chamber is seeking nominations for its Citizen of the Year awards. Nominations are now open for the awards, which are presented annually to extraordinary individuals for the work they have done in Cobb County. According to a Chamber press release, the awards were created by Cobb County civic clubs and are cosponsored by the Cobb Chamber Area Councils and Cobb County business associations. - The Cobb County Public Library celebrated multiple little ones' reading achievements at the 1000 Books B4 Kindergarten Completion Ceremony. The free program, launched by the Georgia Public Library Service, encourages families to read at least 1,000 books with their children before they enter kindergarten. Each child at the ceremony received a certificate and celebrated with crafts and activities. (Cobb County Public Library via Facebook)
- New retailers are coming to Merchant's Walk. Perspire Sauna Studio will be taking over the former Bar Method space and is expected to open this month. A new J. Crew store will be opening at an undisclosed time in the former Calico Homes space, between the relocated Verizon Wireless spot and the Old Navy store. (East Cobb News)
