City Closes Milo's Bar, Site of Killing and Numerous Problems

Milo's Bar and Lounge, scene of a shooting just more than a week ago and the killing of a patron before that, has been closed.

Police told the Marietta Daily Journal they have sent a “cease and desist” letter to the owner of Milo’s, and city officials have denied the renewal of the bar’s business license. 

One man was hospitalized after a gun battle on March 20 outside the bar at the intersection of Powder Springs Street and Garrison Road, about a mile from the Marietta Square. A bystander sitting in a car outside of Milo’s was hit during the gunfight and was treated for nonlife threatening injuries, the paper reported.

Larry Terrell, whose 34-year-old son was killed at the bar almost a year ago, said he's relieved the bar is closed but still angry that a lack of security contributed to his son's death.

“The night my son got killed, that took a part of me,” he told the Daily Journal. “I’ve never been the same. I’m mean. I’m just angry.” 

Tekilum Terrell, of Sandy Springs, was shot April 7 at about 3 a.m. He later died. Three people have been charged with his killing.

Milo’s business license expired Monday, and because of what police called a “mounting number of serious incidents,” the city has denied a license renewal.
