Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:
- Additional votes from a memory card that were not included in general election results on Nov. 8 were included and results were recertified by the Cobb Board of Elections and Registration last week. The additional 789 votes changed the results of the Kennesaw City Council election. Madelyn Orochena, who was originally certified as the winner, actually was 31 votes short behind Lynette Burnett. - The Cobb County Office of the Division of Family and Children Services hosted an adoption celebration event at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church on Saturday. The event was held to celebrated the half dozen families who adopted a child this year in honor of National Adoption Month. The families enjoyed breakfast, Thanksgiving portraits, and were given a $25 Walmart gift card. (Yahoo News)
- The East Cobb Middle School Beta Club was honored last week for their efforts in launching a program to support girls in poverty. The club provided an $800 donation to the grant program to All Girls Forward. The Atlanta Women's Foundation recognized the East Cobb club and held a luncheon event which raised over $150,000 for the program. (East Cobb News)
