Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. Police asked the public's help in searching for a Cobb County teenage girl who suffers from depression, psychosis, and has had suicidal ideations. Yesterday, Dec. 11, Kellie McDowell ran away from Ridgeview Institute in nearby Smyrna. Police described McDowell as five feet, seven inches tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes, and last seen wearing green and maroon scrubs with grippy socks. Call 911 or the Smyrna Police Department at (770) 434-6666 with any information on the whereabouts of McDowell. (WSB-TV 2 Atlanta)
  2. East Cobb resident Bill Hendrick, a longtime journalist for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, published a book on Civil War-era newspaper Archives. The book, "The Atlanta Daily Intelligencer Covers the Civil War," was co-written with local historian Stephen Davis. (East Cobb News)
  3. There are many animals at the Cobb Animal Shelter who are in need of a loving home. To help promote pet adoption, the Cobb County Courier posts the "Cobb County Courier’s Dog of the Day." A sweet-tempered female chihuahua mix is the Dog of the Day in the "Happy Dog" category! She is eligible for adoption on Dec. 17. (Cobb County Courier)
