Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. The East Cobb Food Scores have been released for the week of Sep. 12. Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers (2716 Sandy Plains Road) and La Bella Pizza (2635 Sandy Plains Road, Suite A-7) both received "A" grades, while Moxie Burger (2421 Shallowford Road, Suite 158) and Subway (2610 Delk Road) received "B" grades. The food scores were compiled by the Cobb & Douglas Department of Public Health. (East Cobb News)
  2. Yesterday, residents gathered for the funeral service of a Cobb County deputy who was killed in the line of duty. Cobb county residents, family, and friends paid respects to Deputy Jonathan Randall Koleski at Northstar Church in Kennesaw. Today, residents will gather again to pay respect to Deputy Marshall Ervin Jr. at West Ridge Church in Dallas. Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m., with services to be held immediately after. The two deputies were shot and killed on Sep. 8 during an attempt to execute a warrant in Marietta.   3. A new Chopt location in East Cobb is expected to open this year. The fast-casual chain, which specializes in offering several dozen salad varieties, is expected to open the fifth metro Atlanta location "later this year," although a timeline has not yet been released. The sign for the new location has gone up at one end of Pine Straw Plaza at 4250 Roswell Road where the California Pizza Kitchen used to be. (East Cobb News)

  • Reminder: The Cobb State Court has rescheduled all traffic cases set for today, Sep. 15. This will allow deputies and court personnel to attend the funerals of two deputies who were killed in the line of duty last week. Notifications will be sent out to those affected.
