Cobb Man Arrested In Beating Death Of 91-Year-Old Patient In Nursing Home

Cobb police say Landon Terrel, 33, of Powder Springs fatally brutalized 91-year-old Adam Bennett of Marietta in a senior facility.

MARIETTA, GA -- Police in Cobb County have opened a homicide investigation after an elderly man died from injuries consistent with being severely beaten, authorities said. Adam Bennett, 91, was pronounced dead Friday after being admitted into Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Investigators said that on Aug. 15, officers were told by hospital staff that Bennett's injuries were not in line with what they were told. "As a result of their investigation, detectives determined that the victim had been assaulted by a staff member at the care facility," Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a news release.

Terrel is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, Pierce said.
