Cobb School Responds To Racist Post: 'We Denounce Everything About It'

Racist social media post has caused outrage at North Cobb High School.

NORTH COBB, GA -- Outrage over a vile and racist social media post continues to simmer at North Cobb High School, Patch has learned.

More than 300 students didn't show up to class on Friday over concerns for their safety, according to news reports. On Monday, parents told local media that they are still upset at the person who sent the social media post as well as the school.

The fallout all comes after a derogatory message allegedly by one of the students at the school was posted on Snapchat. In the post, the student says they want to "pull a Hitler and exterminate" all the black students.

The message came to light last week when North Cobb High School Principal Bucky Horton informed parents in an email that "All is well and we are moving forward with our school day," according to WGCL-TV.

Some parents are concerned that the student has not been reprimanded harshly enough. They said that even though he has been suspended, he could pose a threat to other students when he returns. They want him expelled.

"Sweeping things under the rug is never going to solve anything, it's never going to help anyone," parent Gary Ryles to WSB-TV.

In a letter to parents and students, Cobb school administrators assured them that the safety of children was their highest priority.

"Dear North Cobb High School Family, As the administrative team at North Cobb, we want to assure you that the investigation continues into the offensive social media post that circulated within our school this week," North Cobb officials said, according to WGCL.

"The North Cobb High School administration and staff does not condone this type of profane and bigoted behavior in our school. The message was deplorable and we denounce everything about it. We take this matter very seriously and we are addressing it in accordance with Cobb County School District policies and procedures."

The post, shared by a parent on Facebook, has gone viral as users expressed concerns about their children in school.
