Here's what you need to know to start Aug. 12 in East Cobb.

2. Returning families and neighbors of the high school and got their first taste of life during the massive renovations at Wildcat Daze on Thursday night. It wasn’t pretty. Traffic was snarled on Holt Road, and residential streets all around the school were lined with cars during the orientation program. The good news, however, is that it appears the construction project will move ahead; East Cobb Patch will have that story today.

4. Two Saturday options are enticing in East Cobb. The , organized by the Rotary Club of East Cobb, is at 7 a.m. at ; on-site registration starts at 6:30. An educational event Saturday night will be a free lecture by Marietta City Council member Van Pearlberg, a veteran Cobb County prosecutor, on the at 7 p.m. at Temple Kol Emeth’s Doc Lebow Center. The 96th anniversary of Frank's lynching in Marietta is Wednesday.
