East Cobb CVS Pharmacy Tech Arrested

She is the second CVS employee arrested this month.

An East Cobb CVS Pharmacy technician has been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of 500 Hydrocodone pills from her job.

About 8 p.m. May 15, Jakea Latoya Ware of Norcross allegedly took the pills "without the knowledge or authority of the pharmacist," according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

She was arrested Monday at the Powers Ferry Road location on charges that include theft by taking and unathorized distribution of controlled substance.

Ware's arrest came days after another CVS employee was taken into custody on similar charges. Trishanne Williamson, who worked at an Acworth CVS Pharmacy, was arrested May 14 on charges that include four counts of sale of methamphetamine, one count of possession of amphetamine and one count of theft by taking.

She allegedly told investigators with the Acworth Police Department that she took 1,565 prescription pills from the Baker Road CVS between Dec. 1, 2012, and May 11, 2013.

According to a Cobb County criminal warrant, the thefts were caught on store surveillance and in pharmacy audits.

Williamson allegedly took:

  • 500 Percocet pills valued at $855.99;
  • 500 Oxycodone pills valued at $674.99;
  • 400 10mg/325mg Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen pills valued at $1,307.99;
  • 100 Xanax pills valued at $36.09;
  • 50 5mg/325mg Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen pills valued at $35.79;
  • and 15 Oxycontin pills valued at $111.14.

Both women are out of jail. Ware was released from the Cobb County Adult Detention Center Tuesday on a $6,000 bond. Williamson was released Wednesday from the Acworth City Jail on a $40,000 bond.
