East Cobb Hockey Team Wins Title

The Marietta Ice Center's Atlanta Knights Bantam A squad was victorious in Florida.

Despite a limited number of practices, the Atlanta Knights Bantam A travel team completed a sweep of the Gulf Coast Flames Labor Day Challenge 2013 in Ellenton, FL.

The Knights, playing out of the Marietta Ice Center and coached by Tim Kitagawa, took the tournament by storm, winning their first three games by a combined score of 15-2.  

The Knights relied on strong goalie tandem of Emily Barber and Aris Papathanasiou and on stellar offense and defense to shut down the opponents.

Needing to win their fourth game of pool play to advance to the Championship game, the Bulls proved to be a tougher opponent. After a close two periods, the Knights pulled ahead early in the third period, eventually winning 5-1.

In the championship game, the Knights took on the Palm Beach Breakers who were also 4-0 in pool play. After a hard-fought first period, the Knights scored late in the first to give the Knights the advantage at the first intermission.

The teams played to a scoreless second period before third period goals closing out the game with a final score of 3-1. GO KNIGHTS!
