- On Dec. 12, a power surge went through dozens of homes in East Cobb, causing thousands of dollars in damage for multiple homeowners. One homeowner has around $10,000 to $11,000 worth of damages, and another has $6,000 to $7,000 in damages and says he would like to be reimbursed. Georgia Power said it cannot reimburse residents for damages. Cobb EMC said it provided "the phone number and instructions provided by Georgia Power for affected members to file a claim." - The Georgia Department of Transportation announced upcoming lane closures on I-75 in Cobb County. From 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, two right lanes will be closed on the I-75 northbound under Akers Mill Road, and traffic will be paced to slower travel speeds in the project area. Beginning this Sunday, Dec. 18, and for the next five Sundays from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday mornings, the Akers Mill bridge over I-75 will be also closed to traffic. For access to Akers Mill Road during the closures, on-site signage will detour traffic approaching the bridge to Cumberland Boulevard. (Cobb County Courier)
- Yesterday, Dec. 16, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Cobb Parkway near the South Marietta Loop. A police investigation is underway and police are working on contacting the victim's next of kin. (11 Alive)

- All Cobb County Public Libraries will be closed and will not offer curbside hold pickup on Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Dec. 26, in honor of Christmas. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, Dec. 27. (Cobb County Libraries)
