- Nicholas Tiliacos, the owner of Come-N-Get-It restaurant in Marietta, has been charged with sexual assault against two employees. The incidents occurred over two years, from 2020 to 2022, at the restaurant in Marietta and at Tiliacos' home in East Cobb. - On Jan. 19, the Cobb County School District said the allegations that it purchased curriculum materials promoting Critical Race Theory are untrue. Buying those materials would be against district and state education policies and Georgia law. Project Veritas, a conservative media outlet, released a video in which Dr. Quinton Bostic, a content manager with The Teaching Lab, was secretly recorded saying he sold CRT materials to the Cobb and Fulton school districts. Superintendent Chris Ragsdale said the Cobb school district "has no record of purchasing any product or service from The Teaching Lab or Quintin Bostic. We will continue to monitor the situation as appropriate, just as we would any other concerning allegation of state law, state board policy, or a policy of this board." (East Cobb News)
- According to investigators, a burglary crew has been targeting Hispanic grocery stores in Cobb and Cherokee counties. Police in Kennesaw, Smyrna, and Cherokee County Sheriff's investigators are working together to find the four men caught on surveillance video in a Dodge Ram 2500. The crew's tactics have escalated, and investigators want to catch them quickly before it leads to "something violent." (Fox 5 Atlanta)
