Flood Watch Issued for North, Central Georgia Tuesday

The entire metro Atlanta area is affected by the watch, which predicts rainfall totals of up to five inches.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for a vast majority of north and central Georgia, including the entirety of the metro Atlanta area.

According to the watch, which goes into effect at 1 p.m. Tuesday, unseasonably warm and moist conditions will cause “multiple rounds” of heavy rainfall which could deposit as much as five inches of rain through Friday morning.

Forecasters are especially concerned about rainfall Tuesday night into Wednesday, warning that creeks and rivers could flood their banks due to the extra precipitation.
