GEORGIA — University of Georgia football legend Herschel Walker has a message for protesters: Keep it from “9 to 5.”

“I think a peaceful protest should be from 9 to 5,” Walker said in a 2-minute video he tweeted from his account Tuesday.

“My mom always said if things get dark and you’re still out, there’s gonna be trouble,” he added, while wearing a t-shirt with police on it and standing in front of a painting of Jesus. “I think at 8 o’clock everyone should be at home. If they’re not in their house by 8 o’clock they should be arrested unless you have a very good excuse for being out.”

Walker, who won the Heisman Trophy playing for Georgia’s last national-championship team in 1980, said that what happened to George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery was wrong — as is associating them with looting and “beating people up.”

He said the media should “come up with solutions” and “not try to promote all this negativity.”

He also put in a few good words for President Donald Trump. Walker, who now lives in a Dallas, Texas, suburb, played for Trump’s USFL team before playing for several NFL teams, including the Dallas Cowboys. Walker has supported Trump ever since.

“I remember it was Russia Russia Russia,” Walker said. "Then it’s impeachment impeachment impeachment. Now it’s the pandemic, now it’s this. Enough of this.”

He concluded by urging everyone — including congressmen — to “either get in the game or get on the sideline. We can’t continue to be like this.”
