Hot Enough to ...

Here's what you need to know to start the day July 12.

1. What's your favorite cliche for "so hot I swoon when I step outside"? Hot enough to fry an egg? Whatever it is, you'll need it today. It could be the hottest day of the year, with a high of at least 97 and a heat index into the triple digits, the National Weather Service says. The overnight low will be no cooler than 73. A heat advisory and a Code Orange smog advisory are in effect, and there’s a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

2. Three CCT routes, including the buses that run along those routes for riders with disabilities, are on the chopping block when the Cobb County Board of Commissioners meets this morning at 9 at 100 Cherokee St., just off Marietta Square.
