- A Hulu documentary releasing today (Tuesday, Jul. 11) shares the true story of a courageous Cobb County student who reported she was sexually abused by her then-teacher. The victim, whose name has not been released as she was a juvenile at the time of the incident, filed a lawsuit against Spencer Herron, a former teacher at Kell High School in unincorporated Cobb County. Herron was convicted after taking advantage of the underage victim during the 2016-2017 school year, using the pretense of a school club to gain access. (We Got This Covered)
- Local veterans are invited to come out to the We Care Veterans Fair from Aug. 4-5 at the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta. The free event, starting at 8:30 a.m. on both days, will have over 100 vendors on site to provide support and resources for employment, benefits, legal services, mental and physical health, and more. - A structural failure in a Marietta sewer line resulted in the release of over 100,000 gallons of untreated sewage into Sewell Mill Creek. According to Cobb County Water System officials, the overnight sewage spill overflow was successfully stopped just before 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jul. 8. As of the time of publication, repairs and water testing are currently in progress. (WSB Atlanta)
