Isakson Denies KKK Ties

Hackers have released documents which allegedly link the Marietta senator to the hate organization.

A Georgia senator’s name has come up in the initial release of documents from hackers which purport to link politicians to the Ku Klux Klan.

Sen. Johnny Isakson, a Republican who hails from Marietta, is allegedly linked to the “Original Knight Riders Of the KKK” in the documents released by hackers, PoliticusUSA reports. Other politicians named in the documents are North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis, Texas Sen. John Cornyn, and Indiana Sen. Dan Coats.

Isakson’s office released a statement which reads, ”This information is absolutely false and comes from an unverified source. Senator Isakson has never been affiliated with the KKK.”

“Operation KKK,” the Anonymous effort to out 1,000 KKK members, has disavowed this information dump and says it can only vouch for the accuracy of the list they plan to release on Wednesday, Nov. 5 in concert with a “Million Mask March” to combat racism.

Nov. 5 is the day on which Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up Parlaiment, an event noted in the Film “V for Vendetta.” Many Anonymous members style themselves after V, the title character, who wears a stylized Guy Fawkes mask.

A report from Vox claims the initial releases are simply names pulled from KKK e-mail contact databases, and adds that anyone can add anyone else’s name to the mailing list out of spite or as a joke.

Gizmodo reports that one of the people on the list told them her e-mail address was added by a jail employee to harass a union member.
