Here's what you need to know to start the day June 28.

1. A partly sunny day will likely turn all wet this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. There’s a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 and 8 p.m. The high will be about 90, and the overnight low will be around 70.

2. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners has a long day today, starting with a work a session at 1:30 p.m. and continuing with a regular meeting at 7, both in the boardroom at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. The highlight of the work session will be the Citizen Oversight Committee’s presentation of its budget recommendations, expected to last three hours. 4. The Youth Sports Ministry at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 1770 Johnson Ferry Rd., is holding a free soccer clinic from 2 to 4 p.m. for kindergartners through eighth-graders. 5. Georgia plans to roll out a new license plate design next year, and you can help make the decision. The eight options, all of which include peaches, are on display here, where you can vote on your choice with a mouse click. Voting ends July 8. Gov. Nathan Deal will announce a winner from the top three vote-getters July 15.
