Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. After being put on hold for a month, Lidl's zoning case will be heard this Tuesday, Feb. 7. The grocer is hoping to erect a store on Canton Road and Piedmont Road with the consent of the Cobb Planning Commission. There is no known dissent to the proposal, though there were some concerns over reduced parking and emergency vehicle access. This would be the third location of the grocery chain in the area. (East Cobb News)
  2. The Cobb County Public Health Report is now available and outlines the county's biggest challenges. Lawmakers and public health officials have set improving public health infrastructure, reducing maternal and infant mortality, addressing the opioid crisis, and reducing HIV infection rates as the county's priorities. The infrastructure hinges on improving access to services, funding, and communication of available services. (Yahoo News)
  3. School choice transfer applications are open for parents of Cobb County School District children through February. The transfer will allow students to move to a school outside their home zone if available. More information about eligibility and availability can be found here. (East Cobb News)
