Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. East Cobb resident Debbie Fisher, who is opposed to Cobb County’s redistricting, filed an ethics complaint to the Cobb Board of Ethics against Commissioner Jerica Richardson. Fisher alleged that Richardson has a conflict of interest after forming a political action committee to fight redistricting by the Georgia legislature and then voting on redistricting in the commission. Through the complaint, Fisher seeks to void Richardson’s votes on the redistricting maps, which would result in a 2-2 deadlock, and to reprimand and censure Richardson. (East Cobb News)
  2. Yesterday afternoon, Cobb County leaders held a news conference to talk to the community about the upcoming video release and the death of Tyre Nichols in Memphis. Cobb County District Attorney Flynn Broady wanted to show that "Cobb County is united in [its] purpose of making sure that we do things right." He said he "truly" believes that Cobb County has "the best law-enforcement officers in all the country." (Georgia Patch)
  3. The Taste of East Cobb announced that the annual food festival would take place on May 6 at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church! The event will benefit the Walton High School band programs and include food samplings, live jazz music, a kids’ fun zone, sand art, face painting, a silent auction, and more. Admission is free, and food tickets cost only one dollar each. The Taste of East Cobb is now accepting applications for restaurants, vendors, and sponsors. (East Cobb News)
