Student Arrested Following Sprayberry Threat (Update)

Police say it took about an hour from the first reports of an emergency situation to the arrest of the alleged false reporter.

A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged after Cobb County police said she was responsible for sending false information regarding an emergency at Sprayberry High School on Monday.

Ladaisha Gibbons faces charges of false report of a crime, disruption of public school, and unlawful conduct during a 911 call for sending texts that purportedly claimed there was an active shooter on the campus, department spokesman Dana Pierce said.

Cobb County police, the Cobb County School Police, and the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school and determined that no shooting was taking place nor had taken place, according to Pierce. Gibbons was arrested approximately an hour after sending the texts.
