Make Every Day Earth Day
Here are the things you need to know to start the day April 22.
1. The sun is pretty much taking the day off, preparing to shine throughout a spectacular weekend full of Easter egg hunts, sunrise services and brunches. Today, expect to see a lot of clouds and occasional rain; one line of showers quietly moved through around 3:30 this morning and another just after 5. There's a 40 percent chance of more rain at times today, according to the National Weather Service. The high will be about 74 and the overnight low around 55.
2. Did we mention Easter events? Here's a roundup of the best options, and be sure to check out East Cobb Patch's calendar for all your options this weekend. To make the weekend truly memorable, consider taking home a new member of the family at the pet adoption event.
3. Not enough? Return to East Cobb Patch this afternoon for our picks for Easter brunch (holidays are almost always better with a great meal), then come back Saturday to check out the lineup of Sunday services (it is, after all, a religious holiday). Feel free to add your suggestions to either list by posting comments or by emailing wendy.parker@patch.com.

4. Of course, Easter is important only to Christians, whereas high school sports is universal around here. The state playoffs for tennis began this week. On the boys' side, Region 5-AAAAA champion faces Mill Creek today. beat Collins Hill 3-0 on the road Tuesday to advance to the second round for the first time next Tuesday at Alpharetta, and 5-AAAA champ beat South Forsyth 3-0 to advance to the second round against Lakeside at home Tuesday. On the girls side, Pope beat Creekview 3-0 to reach a second-round home match against Dunwoody on Monday, and the eternally unbeaten Walton Lady Raiders will play at home Tuesday after beating Collins Hill in the first round Wednesday.
5. In addition to being Good Friday, today is Earth Day, although really, shouldn't every day be Earth Day? You can celebrate Saturday by bringing paper to for the Walton Environmental Club's . Here's something you can do every day: Save and reuse those sleeves you get on the cups at coffee shops. Think of how much landfill space we could save if each of us used only one of those sleeves a week instead of five or more. And we'd save some money as well by helping coffee shops keep their costs down. Everyone wins.
