Marietta Man Sentenced for Armed Robbery

The man set up one of his friends and pretended to be robbed alongside him in May of 2014, prosecutors said.

A Marietta man will be spending the next 12 years in prison after he was convicted of armed robbery on Friday afternoon, the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Joshua Anthony Gerard, 21, set up a friend to be robbed at gunpoint by Cortez Harris early on the morning of May 16, 2014. Gerard pretended as though he was also a victim, prosecutors said. After the robbery, Harris fled the area and hid in Gerard’s car.

After the verdict, Cobb Superior Court Judge S. Lark Ingram immediately sentenced Mr. Gerard to 17 years, with 12 years to serve in prison and the rest on probation.
