  1. McCray's Tavern East Cobb was recognized as the Most Creative and Most Likely to Visit in 2023 at the recent Taste of East Cobb food festival. The LEAD Hospitality Group expressed their delight in being acknowledged as one of the top East Cobb restaurants. McCray's Tavern takes pride in its inventive menus, featuring dishes like their award-winning blueberry pancakes for brunch and offering a comfortable atmosphere with oversized booths, making it an ideal destination for gathering with friends and family. 2. The Cobb Planning Commission has recommended approval of a rezoning request for a car wash near Bells Ferry Elementary School. The request would preserve an 1840s-era home on the property by designating a portion of it as neighborhood retail commercial and low-rise office zones. The discussions between the property owners, historic preservation interests, and Cobb Landmarks have been ongoing for years, with the possibility of relocating the house and putting a preservation easement on the surrounding land. 3. On Monday, Jun. 5, the Cobb Police Department lost one of their own K-9's due to hot temperatures in a patrol car. Sgt. Wayne Delk stated that Chase, the K-9, was left unattended with air conditioning on while Officer Neill was away handling a shooter training session at Allatoona High School. Reports from Delk explained that Chase was checked on every 15 minutes, but his final check-in was at 2:00 p.m. when he was found unresponsive. The police department is still trying to figure out what caused this incident and why the air conditioning system rose in temperature rather than keep it cool for the K-9. (East Cobb News)
