Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:
- James Whitcomb, an East Cobb resident, has received pledges exceeding $20,000 to repeat his "Mega Swim" challenge to help raise money for the non-profit Tunnel to Towers. The 9/11 non-profit assists seriously injured first responders and military veterans with mortgage-free homes and other housing assistance. Last year, Whitcomb swam ten miles, but this year he plans to swim 13.1 miles at the Mountain View Aquatic Center at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Sep. 9. He will also live-stream his swim on YouTube. - Yesterday, Sep. 6, Cobb Tax Commissioner Carla Jackson announced the tag office at 2932 Canton Road is closed "until further notice" due to emergency building maintenance. Other nearby tag offices include the East Cobb Government Service Center at 4400 Lower Roswell Road and a tag kiosk location at the Kroger at 3152 Johnson Ferry Road. (East Cobb News)
