MLK Day Auditions For Cobb County Celebration Set For Jan. 3

Final auditions will be held Thursday for Cobb's annual MLK Day celebration.

MARIETTA, GA -- Cobb County is once again hosting its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration at Turner Chapel AME Church. This year's event will start on Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. and feature emcee WSB-TV anchor Fred Blankenship, entertainment and the annual presentation of the “Living the Dream” award to community members who demonstrates the ideals King exemplified. This celebration is hosted by Cobb County Government and the Cobb County branch of the NAACP. The church is located at 492 North Marietta Parkway NE, Marietta.

The final audition for event entertainment will be held 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, at Jennie T. Anderson Theatre. Dance, spoken word, vocal and musical performances are welcome, but they are limited to three minutes and should relate to King's message. Anderson Theatre is located in the Cobb Civic Center, 548 S. Marietta Parkway, Marietta.
