UPDATE: Crane Truck Accident Paralyzes I-75 Traffic

Eight vehicles were involved in the Thursday morning crash.

Three people were injured when a crane truck collided with seven other vehicles on Interstate 75 southbound on Thursday morning, snarling traffic for several hours.

The driver of the crane truck, 32-year-old Woodstock resident Wesley Pike, told the Georgia State Patrol he lost his brakes at approximately 9:30 a.m. while traveling on I-75 near South Marietta Parkway. Pike lost control of his truck and struck a tractor trailer and six passenger vehicles.

One injured person was transported to Kennestone Hospital, GSP said. Charges are pending upon the completion of the investigation and an inspection of the truck by the Motor Carrier Compliance Division.
