East Cobb Man Admits Navy Bribery

Patrick Nagle will plead guilty to a federal conspiracy charge in Rhode Island in a probe of defunct contractor ASFT.

An East Cobb man has agreed to plead guilty to a charge of conspiracy to commit bribery in an ongoing investigation into a defunct defense contractor.

Patrick Nagle, 50, was a senior vice president and director of contracts for Advanced Solutions for Tomorrow (ASFT), U.S. Attorney Peter Neronha’s office in Rhode Island said Thursday in announcing the plea agreement with Nagle.

ASFT was based in Middletown, RI, and Roswell. Middletown Patch reported , based on a statement from Neronha’s office.

Nagle is due to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lincoln Almond in Providence, RI, on Aug. 18, Neronha’s statement said.

ASFT shut down in February after federal investigators seized company assets amid an investigation into a Navy contracting kickback scheme worth more than $9 million.

According to the plea agreement filed in Providence, Nagle will admit submitted from 1999 to 2010 to funnel money to Ralph Mariano, a civilian program manager with the Naval Sea Systems Command, and to Mariano’s friends and relatives, Middletown Patch reported.

Mariano is awaiting trial, and Nagle has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors, said.

ASFT founder to bribing a public official, Roswell Patch reported. He’s due to be sentenced Dec. 9.
