  1. The Cobb County School District announced that Bradley Blackman will be the new principal at Dickerson Middle School. Blackman was the assistant principal for 7th grade at Dodgen Middle School since 2020. He takes the reigns for Adam Hill who will be an assistant superintendent in the Cobb School District. Blackman's appointment was approved by a 7-0 vote by the Cobb Board of Education. (East Cobb News)
  2. Ingrid Griffith will be presenting her one-woman show about Shirley Chisholm at the Sewell Mill Cultural Center Saturday night as part of the Juneteenth celebration. "Unbossed and Unbowed" is the New York actor and playwright's show about the pioneering New York congresswoman. Chisholm was the first black woman to be elected to the United States Congress in 1968. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. in the Black Box Theater. (East Cobb News)
  3. Highland Rivers Behavioral Health will be holding a job fair on Wednesday, Jun. 21 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The job fair will be at the Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC), 1750 County Services Parkway, in Marietta. Some of the jobs available include unit clerks, behavioral health technicians, and nurses. There will be interviews conducted at the fair. (East Cobb News)

  • The Cobb County Public Library is creating a photo collage for its All Together Now Summer Reading Challenge. Each week, the library will share a prompt for a photo and the photos will be combined at the end of the summer into a collage that represents the diversity in the community.   • The Eastside Elementary School is now taking pre-orders for the school spirit shirts. If you can place your order by Jul. 10, the shirts should be ready by the "Meet the Teacher" event on Aug. 7. The order form for the shirts is available here. (Eastside Elementary School via Facebook)
  • The Cobb County Public Library has added eight new dates in July for the Vision To Learn free mobile eye clinics. This is a free service for children ages 5-18 and is available at various Cobb County Libraries. You can make an appointment here. (Cobb County Public Library via Facebook)
