  1. On Wednesday, Marietta City Council approved new licensing requirements for sex shops. The council has adopted an overhaul of its ordinance governing "adult establishments," including strip clubs and sex shops, amid an ongoing legal fight to close a local sex shop. Members unanimously approved the ordinance in a seven to zero vote, and also voted to waive a second vote, which would normally be required to occur at the next month's meeting. (Yahoo Sports)
  2. The Cobb County Public Library is collecting donations for the Homeless Pet Club. Donations are accepted year-round for families in need, benefitting the free pet food pantries at Our Giving Garden in South Cobb, the Cobb County Animal Services Shelter, and Kemp Memorial Library in West Cobb. Drop off donations at the Kemp, South Cobb, and Sweetwater libraries, or drop them off directly at the free pet food pantries. (Facebook)
  3. On Aug. 25, The Cobb County Police Department will be hosting a Community & Faith Forum. The forum will offer an opportunity for residents to meet CCPD’s new leadership team and hear their vision for the department and the direction they will be taking as they deal with violent crime and the safety of Cobb citizens. The free event is open to the public and will be held at the Cobb County Public Safety Training Academy, located at 2435 East-West Connector in Austell, just over 30 minutes from East Cobb.
