Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:
- A new Veterans Affairs clinic has opened in Marietta. The 64,000-square-foot facility is the largest in the county. There are now four Veterans Affairs clinics within Cobb County — one in West Cobb off Dallas Highway, one in South Cobb in Smyrna, one in East Cobb off Roswell Road, and the newest one in Marietta. The new clinic offers a variety of medical services such as dental, eye, prosthetics, audiology, and occupational therapy. (Subscription: AJC.com)
- The development converting the GTC Cobb Park 12 Cinema is proposing a new standalone restaurant at the site. The current plan in East Cobb includes a self-storage facility on the property. The Stein Investment Group has filed a plan to amend the project with the Cobb Zoning Office to include the new restaurant idea. The proposal's hearing will be next week on Tuesday. (East Cobb News)
- The Cobb County School District is considering disciplinary action against a former Campbell High student. The student was allegedly found with a vape pen containing THC in a school bathroom last year. The student's expulsion has been overturned by the state and the student has since earned a GED diploma. The student has also moved out of Cobb County. (Subscription: AJC.com)
