Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:
- A delayed proposal to build a Northeast Cobb subdivision off Kinridge Court is being continued again by the Cobb Zoning Staff. In addition, staff will be continuing two rezoning applications for car wash facilities on Shallowford Road. Originally, the three cases were to be heard on Tuesday by the Cobb Board of Commissioners, however, they were rescheduled for September. (East Cobb News)
- A man plans to complete a 13.1-mile swim challenge for the Tunnel to Towers foundation. For the second year in a row, 61-year-old Jim Whitcomb of East Cobb is raising money and awareness for the nonprofit close to his heart by doing something that comes naturally to him — swimming. Whitcomb has raised the bar this year with Swim2Help T2T, a half marathon swim, and a goal of $30,000 in donations for the organization. To donate, click here. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- A Cobb assistant sheriff has been named director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. On Monday, Gov. Brian Kemp announced that Michael Register, a former Cobb public safety director and police chief, will succeed Vic Reynolds. Assistant GBI director John Melvin will head the department in an interim role until Register’s hiring is approved by the Georgia Board of Public Safety. (East Cobb News)
