President Donald Trump will appear at a fundraiser for Republican candidate Karen Handel on Friday, April 28
ATLANTA, GA — President Donald Trump will appear at a Friday fundraiser for 6th District Republican candidate Karen Handel. The event will follow the president's keynote address at the National Rifle Association's national convention at the Georgia World Congress Center.
If you plan to attend the fundraiser, the cheapest ticket reportedly starts at $2,700; a host sponsorship will run you $25,000. Invitations went out to Republican donors in Georgia on Tuesday, according to news reports. Georgia has been on the mind of the president in recent days: Two weeks ago he hosted 15 first responders at the Oval Office for their response to the I-85 collapse, in which no lives were lost. Last week, Trump weighed in on Georgia's 6th District House of Representatives race. Using his favorite medium, Twitter, Trump blasted Democrat and top vote-getter Jon Ossoff and commended Handel for staving off the 30-year-old first-time candidate's attempt to turn the district from red to blue.

The 6th District runoff election is being watched closely by Washington as many see it as a litmus test on the popularity of Trump's ideology on the local level. Handel, who failed to mention Trump in a rousing speech after the April 19 special election, has embraced the president as the Republican Party looks to put on a unified front to stave off Ossoff, who is benefiting from support from Democratic heavyweights as well as celebrities.

Dems failed in Kansas and are now failing in Georgia. Great job Karen Handel! It is now Hollywood vs. Georgia on June 20th.

The runoff for the 6th District — Atlanta's northern suburbs including affluent parts of Cobb, DeKalb and Fulton counties — is slated for June 20.
Trump is scheduled to speak Friday at 12:30 p.m. in Hall A3 of the Congress Center in downtown Atlanta, part of an area that he called "falling apart" and "crime infested" earlier this year in a Twitter rant against Rep. John Lewis, who represents it as part of Atlanta's 5th Congressional District.
