- The Cobb County School District has proposed a bus driver pay raise of $5.25 an hour. The district has been experiencing serious shortages of bus drivers over the last two years. The proposal is on the agenda for both a work session and possible action tonight (Aug. 18) by the Cobb Board of Education. (East Cobb News)
- Nominations are now being accepted for the Cobb Chamber of Commerce's 2022 Citizen of the Year Awards. The awards are presented by the Chamber's nine area councils, including the East Cobb Area Council, which unveils its award on Nov. 10. - A World War II veteran celebrated his 102nd birthday on Tuesday. Harry Kone, a veteran of the Pacific Campaign and a Purple Heart recipient, was born in Baltimore in 1920; he now lives with his daughter Sue Lind in East Cobb. On Tuesday, Aug. 16, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners designated the date as Harry Kone Day. (Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)
