Rain, a Rainbow and Lots of Rumors
Here are the things you need to know to start your day April 26.

1. We seem to say this several times a week, but here's hoping you came through the storms safe and sound and have power today. Our friends at Marietta Power are reporting no outages this morning. The National Weather Service, which was eerily accurate Monday, reports a 50 percent chance of more storms today after 8 a.m. Expect lots of lightning and 20-mph wind gusts if those storms hit. The high on this mostly cloudy day will be about 81 degrees, with an overnight low of 64. We could see rain any time through 2 a.m.
2. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners will meet twice today, first in a work session at 1:30 p.m., then in its regular meeting at 7, both at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. The board tonight is expected to approve the five furlough days for county employees. You can read all about the agenda a little later today on East Cobb Patch, then follow the regular meeting live here tonight.
3. Cobb Community Transit is holding the second of four days of public meetings on proposed fare increases and route changes today at the . The meeting will be an open-house format from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. There will be information but no formal presentation, so you can walk right in at any time during the meeting. The meetings continue Wednesday at the South Cobb Government Center in Austell and Thursday at the Central Library in Marietta. See the flier for more details.

4. Congratulations to alum Harris Rainbow on his new gig as at nearby . It's a triumphant way to close out Passover (today's the last day of the eight-day holiday) for one of Georgia's few (only?) Jewish high school football coaches. Mazel tov! If Wheeler's own downtrodden football program doesn't start winning with regularity, the Wildcats might wind up looking south toward Smyrna with regret about not hiring Rainbow.
5. Rumors are flying about the Cobb County Board of Education's choice for a new superintendent as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Marietta Daily Journal compete to see whose anonymous sources are better. (We at Patch don't believe in using anonymous sources except in extreme circumstances; trying to get a scoop on something that's going to be announced within a few days doesn't qualify.) We will say this: It's odd the AJC reported that Rockdale County Superintendent Samuel King had the job even before the school board held a closed personnel meeting Monday at 5 p.m. When the announcement comes, you'll find it right away on East Cobb Patch.
