Reminder About East Cobb School Traffic

Detours and alternatives will be in effect related to the Sope Creek Bridge project as classes begin Wednesday.

The office of District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott just released this reminder today about school traffic that will be affected by the ongoing Sope Creek Bridge replacement project:

Motorists who drive through the area around Paper Mill Road at Sope Creek should be aware of higher traffic congestion with the beginning of school on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

The Sope Creek Bridge on Paper Mill Road in east Cobb remains closed through Oct. 25. This closure is expected to cause heavy traffic along Lower Roswell Road.

Mt. Bethel Christian Academy starts Thursday, Aug. 8, and will also contribute to higher volumes than what has been experienced over the summer. Indian Hills residents are highly encouraged to use Roswell Road and Old Canton entrances to enter/exit neighborhood.

Drivers are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes to work and school during peak traffic times as school bus drivers will use Lower Roswell Road to transport children to and from Sope Creek Elementary School.
