Sandy Plains Project Nears Completion
A busted waterline late Sunday afternoon caused the entire intersection at East Piedmont Road to close temporarily.

One look at the Northeast Cobb Facebook page and it's easy to see that residents are eager for the Sandy Plains and East Piedmont road construction project to end:
Brooke Rohan they need to stop doing this damn construction on the weekend, this is ridiculous. I will continue to blow my horn till the traffic moves; they need to do it at night!!
Iliana Icen Will they ever finish?

Sabrina Webster Can't wait; the improvements will be great - especially if they have 2 turn lanes from Sandy Plains westbound to Piedmont southbound!
Linda Rehkopf No, they will never finish, not as long as voters keep approving "road improvements." (btw, I've lived in the area 30 years and this intersection has always been under construction).

Nicki Merck They had it completely shut down last night (Sunday).
Scott Jordan P.E., District 3 Engineer, told Northeast Cobb Patch, "A waterline busted late yesterday (Sunday) afternoon when paving was finishing up and the contractor had to shut down the entire intersection to fix the waterline temporarily."
He said that shutting down the intersection should not happen again. "Sunday should be the last part of weekend work. No work will happen this Saturday."
There will be no night road construction.
"There will be lane closures starting next week from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. to finish the wall on the Walgreen’s corner. After next week there should not be any more lane closures during the week," Jordan said.
According to Jordan, the project will be completed at the end of March.
