Here's what you need to know to start July 19 in East Cobb.

1. It will be hot and humid today, the National Weather Service says, with a high of about 92 and an increasing chance of rain through the afternoon. The chance of showers will remain 30 percent until about 2 a.m., and the overnight low will be around 72.
2. The debate over Cobb County’s in recent memory moves to the public today with hearings before the Board of Commissioners at 100 Cherokee St. in downtown Marietta at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. East Cobb Patch plans live coverage of the evening hearing.
3. It looks as if it’s time to close the book on Borders. The bookstore chain is expected to start liquidating as soon as Friday, meaning the East Cobb location at will be closing. That’s bad news for fans of big-box bookstores but maybe not for independent shops such as Bookmiser at 3822 Roswell Rd.

Four other teams will compete this season, which kicks off Aug. 27.
5. The Marietta Daily Journal had an article Sunday about a fun idea, bringing food trucks to downtown Marietta on a regular basis. But as the Cobb Galleria Centre pointed out on Twitter, today already is food truck day at the Atlanta Galleria office park at the edge of East Cobb. Today’s lineup includes Yumbii tacos.
