- Temple Kol Emeth (TKE) in Cobb County celebrated its 40th anniversary with a Ruby Jubilee event, featuring dinner, a silent auction, and entertainment by magician Jake Schwartz. The Reform Jewish temple, founded in 1982, received a proclamation from the Cobb County Commission and honored past presidents, including founding member Jane Aronoff. The celebration will continue with the installation of the Birthright Bench by artist Doug Pisik, followed by a trip to Israel for TKE congregants to explore the country's rich history and spiritual sites. - East Cobb resident Benny Varzi, a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, has been included in Forbes' "Best-in-State Wealth Advisors" list for 2023. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Varzi has received this recognition, showcasing his expertise in portfolio management and investment strategies. Merrill Lynch, with a total of 1,820 advisors recognized on the list, holds the top position among all firms, including 23 advisors ranked as No. 1 in their respective states. (East Cobb News)
- After the lifting of lockdown and stay-at-home orders, the East Cobb Quilters Guild has been actively engaged in various philanthropic projects. Recently, 18 guild members organized a "Sewcial" event to create quilts for Cobb County's Family and Children Services and Adult Protective Services, along with placemats for Meals on Wheels and pillowcases for Ryan's Case for Smiles. - A 15-year-old Cobb County boy has tragically died after being shot in the face in Quiet Creek Court, a Cobb County neighborhood. Authorities have not yet identified the boy, or anyone else involved. (WSB-TV)
