Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:
- Tim Lee Way was recently unveiled in a newly-completed section of Battery Atlanta. Lee, a Chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners from 2010-2017, was instrumental in working with the Braves to bring their stadium and the Battery Atlanta development to Cobb County. The newly-named road, honoring Lee who died in 2019 after a battle with cancer, is on the western side of the complex and runs between Battery Avenue and Windy Ridge Parkway. (Cobb County)
- A Cobb school board chairman is accusing his November election challenger of “trying to score some cheap political points” in comments she recently made. In a campaign e-mail sent Wednesday, chairman David Chastain accused Catherine Pozniak of being “a politically activist opponent” for her criticisms of the board regarding a special review conducted last year by the Cobb County School District’s accrediting agency. According to Pozniak, “People are dissatisfied with what they are seeing from this board. There’s not one issue that’s driving this race.” (East Cobb News)
- On Friday morning, a male pedestrian was struck at the intersection of North Marietta Parkway and Fairground Street, according to Marietta Police. The victim, who was transported to Kennestone Hospital conscious, alert, and breathing, is in "serious condition." Investigators are working to determine what led up to the incident. (11Alive)
